 Bollington Brass Band plays at Christmasby Marion Harrison (Lady Captain)
On Sunday 18th December 2011, after a tricky icy journey, driving gingerly up Eaves Knoll Road, the welcome at the golf club was festive, warm and friendly with everyone anticipating a musical evening provided by the Bollington Brass Band – and we certainly were not disappointed.
The conductor, Mr Peter Christian, a popular member of New Mills Golf Club was a great compare and kept everyone in a jovial mood with lots of participation from the audience. Carols, picked by the audience were rousingly sung, staff kept the drinks flowing and at the interval, Liz and John our steward and stewardess provided some delightful hot pork sandwiches and chips - and very reasonably priced!.
The Christmas Hamper raffle, with contents having been donated by all the lady members, was drawn during the break by Mr President and Lady Captain. Whilst this was in progress a cheer went around the club as a salt spreader wwent past the clubhouse - thus easing our homeward journeys! The evening was a big success and set us all up for the splendid Christmas festivities. |
