Welcome return of the ‘Classics’ By popular demand we’re pleased to welcome back the ‘Classics’ to the Golf Club. Playing music from the 60’s and ‘70’s the band will bring back memories of classic hits from bands such as TheStones, Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochrane and a host of others. For me, the highlight of their last visit was the selection of hits by the Shadows which brought people onto the dance floor and showed that even some of the elder statesmen of the club still hadn’t lost the ability to perform a mean jive or two. Watch out Strictly! Tickets cost just £5 and John and Liz will be providing food for those who need some sustenance. Once again Alan Blakeman will compere the evening so dig out your dancing shoes, bring along your friends and get your feet tapping to what promises to be another great evening of nostalgia performed by four great musicians. |

Santa comes to New Mills Golf Club! The elf that gatecrashed the Ladies Christmas Party, obviously gave a good report to Santa. Not only did he arrive, but he brought with him an entourage that even Madonna would envy!! There were 2 reindeer, Sponge Bob Square Pants, Mickey Mouse and Peppa Pig. What a motley crew they were, but the children were entranced. At one stage it looked as if Sponge Bob was going to be mobbed, but the disco started and their attention was drawn to the games being played and then the food provided by Liz and John. Just as the sun was setting, the children (48 in total aged from 11 months to 10 yrs) were asked to go outside and shout for Santa! Which they did with great gusto, until he came racing down the fairway. A great cheer went up, and the excitement of the children (and some of the adults!!) was tangible. Once inside, the children surrounded him, and Santa got them all to sing Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. I am sure I saw a little tear in one or two eyes (male and female). When the singing finished, Santa then called every child up to get a present. It is fair to say, that from the excited shouts, all were very impressed with their gifts.
