An excellent turn out of 88 pairs took place in our annual Senior’s Open on Tuesday. The event which is not open to members of New Mills Golf Club, started sunny and warm with little wind which made playing conditions ideal. The course was in tip top condition and was praised by the visiting players many of who return year after year to play our challenging, attractive course. Of course, being in the heart of the Peak District, we couldn’t expect the superb weather to stay the same all day and a tremendous downpour, interspersed by the crack of thunder and flashes of lightening, briefly brought play to a halt for twenty minutes in mid afternoon. However, the sun once again came out to bring a fittingly warm end to a superb day. Thanks once again to Ged Armitt for organising the event and to his team of helpers who manned the car park, served drinks at ‘half way house, booked in players and did a spot of ball watching. As one visitor said as he passed one of the ball spotters in his fluorescent yellow jacket –‘It’s just like playing at the Open’
Other prize winners were Many visitors took away application forms for next year’s event. If you would like to return to play in September 2011 contact Ged on 01663 763246 or visit our website at www.newmillsgolfclub.co.uk for an application form. |
