The Seniors section is open to 'youngsters' over 55 years of age for an annual additional membership of just £5 per year. Seniors meet to play on Monday and Wednesday mornings at 8:30am which means they're back home early enough to take their wives shopping, do the gardening, paint the living room etc etc.
The highlight of the week is without doubt the Friday morning 'fiddle', again starting at 8:30am. This fiercely competitive Stableford competition can easily draw in excess of 20 players each week - lured by the prospect of huge winnings from the £1 entry fee per person. During the summer (April - September) home and away matches are played against 13 other clubs. Normally these require a team of 8 pairs. Each of the matches ends with a meal.
League fixtures are played this year against Reddish Vale, Avro and Shrigley Hall. At the end of the season the four teams with the highest scores from all the competing clubs meet in a final - last season New Mills reached the final.
In addition to these fixtures there are a number of internal competitions for the Seniors.
Add to this the annual 'Turkey Trot' played as a pairs competition and open to guests from other clubs, a couple of mixed competitions with the Ladies and a Charity Competition, played as an individual medal off white tees on 3/4 handicap where the two highest scoring players go on to represent the Seniors against clubs from all over the area, and you can see how active the Seniors Section can be for those of us who have nothing better to do with our time than 'go out and play'!

The Marcliffe cup sponsored by Cliff Ardern is an individual Stableford played off yellow tees with a variety of different prizes on offer. The George Scott trophy held towards the end of the season is an individual Stableford played off full handicap from the yellow tees, whilst the Vets cup is also an individual Stableford held in October.
