Clubhouse and Social - The clubhouse will open at 7.30am to allow golfers access but John and Liz won’t start serving until 10am. John and Liz’s day off will be Thursday although there will be some flexibility with this arrangement.
- The issue of payment by credit card is being investigated. The problem at present is related to the split % going to the Stewards and the Club along with VAT issues.
- The Summer Ball scheduled for the 24th September has been cancelled, however, the Annual Dinner Dance has been arranged for December 3rd and the Past Presidents and Captains dinner will be held on 7th October. The New Year’s Eve buffet is being planned and details will appear soon.
- Fire Safety Awareness training has been completed by the Secretary and assembly point notices and other safety notices will be displayed shortly.
Membership: 3 new members have joined. Mr. Captain received a letter from the Derbyshire President thanking us for hosting the Derbyshire Juniors event in August.
Equality forum: 50 of the 323 members attended of which 22 were ladies and 28 gentlemen. 32 voted for Option B; 12 for option A and 4 for Option C.
Finances:
- As the present system of collecting fees has been unnecessarily time consuming, and it has been decided to employ ‘Fairway Credit’ to collect fees in future. Each member will have their own individual credit agreement with the company. This would benefit the club by reducing paperwork and manpower and help ensure all fees are collected.
- An EGM is being planned for November to provide members with all the information about this and the proposed fees for 2012.
Savings have been made re both the Greens staff and Professional and bar takings are on target. The change over from Coors to Robinson’s has been successfully completed.
The Course:
- Two machines were borrowed to cutback the rough and it is hoped to borrow them again towards the end of the season. A review of the state of current machinery is being undertaken.
- The greens have been sprayed 3x for Fusarian and are now in excellent condition. This winter, Fusarian will not be allowed to get out of control.
- The greens will be hollow-tined on the 26th and 27th September and members are asked to be understanding as this is very time consuming work. Greens staff have worked extremely hard again this season to get the course in such good condition.
- The trolley shed steps and the steps to the Ladies tee on the 18th are both very slippery and will be recovered.
- Trees below the Ladies 16th tee are to be lopped so that the green is visible from the tee.
Marketing:
- Rick Boffey has been co-opted on to the general Committee and will specifically deal with Advertising and Marketing.
- The need to focus on women’s golf both in advertising on the website and in newspaper adverts was highlighted.
- It is planned to increase the number of Corporate Days from 3- 5 next year.
- There will be a new style diary next year with advertisers hopefully funding costs.
Competitions:
- The Quad Am on Sept ember 4th was well supported. Thanks to Dave Coffey and Ian Wyatt for their work in attracting sponsors and to Graham Hadfield for organising the event.
- We currently have sponsors for all 18 holes and it is hoped to have a Quad Am for the tee sponsors next year.
Appointments for 2012:
- As Simon Belt will be Captain next year it is necessary for someone to take over responsibility for Handicaps. Volunteers are sought and the position will be advertised on the TV in the foyer.
- David Hibbert will not be standing for re-election as Chairman of the Juniors Section in 2012, so again volunteers are sought and this important post will be advertised on the TV in the foyer.
Next meeting: 13th October 2011 at 7:30pm
