Moving from the Pay and Play approach to playing golf to becoming a member of a Golf Club can be a big step, and making the right choice of Club is important. Clubs vary in the character and challenge of the course including its upkeep and condition, the character and balance of the existing membership including competitive skill set and friendliness, and too often overlooked, the social life and banter around the Clubhouse.

Simon Belt, Club CaptainCAPTAIN’S Thank You WEEKEND

Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th August 2012

By way of thanking the Club for giving me the honour of being Captain this year, I get to host a weekend competition for Gents and Ladies, whereby all categories of members can come together and play in a competition. Tee sheets are on the notice boards in the clubhouse. Known for being one of the most welcoming Clubs in the area, the Saturday evening gives all categories of members the chance to partake in some food and drink with each other.

By bringing their family and friends, it's a great chance for members to show off the clubhouse and panoramic views to those left at home whilst we test ourselves on the course. For all those young at heart, a disco will allow us to demonstrate we can swing our hips for others and not just to hit that damn ball! The Saturday evening is all about enjoying the clubhouse facilities with our wider family and friends of members, so please do invite all those you like to spend time with.

The Rochdale pairing of Dean Brackenbury, playing off 9 and Nigel Donnelly playing off 23 meant that Phil and Tom received 5 and 6 shots resepctively but Nigel took full advantage of his 11 shots none more so than on the par 3, SI 11 where despite Phil parring hole a par from Nigel meant a half just when Phil thought he had won the hole!
