 CAPTAIN’S Thank You WEEKEND
Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th August 2012 By way of thanking the Club for giving me the honour of being Captain this year, I get to host a weekend competition for Gents and Ladies, whereby all categories of members can come together and play in a competition. Tee sheets are on the notice boards in the clubhouse. Known for being one of the most welcoming Clubs in the area, the Saturday evening gives all categories of members the chance to partake in some food and drink with each other. By bringing their family and friends, it's a great chance for members to show off the clubhouse and panoramic views to those left at home whilst we test ourselves on the course. For all those young at heart, a disco will allow us to demonstrate we can swing our hips for others and not just to hit that damn ball! The Saturday evening is all about enjoying the clubhouse facilities with our wider family and friends of members, so please do invite all those you like to spend time with.
Saturday 4th August8.00am onwards: Gents competition - Individual Stableford Full Handicap. All 3-month, 5-day, 5 1/2-day, and 7-day Gents are encouraged to enter this, perhaps putting your name down next to someone you haven't played with in a while, including Juniors. Entrance fee is just £4 per player which includes a 2’s pool. Complimentary refreshments of food and drink will be served at the Halfway House, by the 10th Tee, throughout the competition. 5.00pm onwards: Caribbean and other BBQ provided by Liz Longworth, our most excellent catering manager, all very sensibly priced and caters for all. No booking is required, but it would be nice to know rough numbers, so if you're in the clubhouse it would be helpful to let Liz or John know, else email the Captain at

. 8.00pm onwards: Captain’s Evening with disco with Paul Gee. Entry is free to all members and their guests, with a menu for supper available at the Bar. There is no formal Dress Code for the evening, just come along as you would when enjoying yourself on a night out elsewhere - jackets and ties will be equally as welcome as John Travolta pants with a frilly shirt. Ladies always look gorgeous whatever they wear. There'll be a brief announcement of the winners of the competition (no doubt in need of a handicap revision) to take a bow. Prizes will be for 1st, 2nd and 3rd for the Gents competition. There will be a Nearest the Pin on 8th green, and a Nearest the fairway white line on 9th hole.
Sunday 5th August 12:30pm onwards: Captain’s Invitation to Ladies, with complimentary food and drinks at the Halfway House, followed by prizes in the clubhouse for 1st, 2nd and 3rd for the competition. There will be a Nearest the Pin on 8th green, and a Nearest the Fairway white line on 9th hole. |
