Seniors League Match vs Shrigley Hall 8th May at Home Having won the first 4 matches of the season against Chapel, Disley,Glossop and Mellor, we followed up with 3 losses against Buxton, Reddish Vale, and Stamford. We were then faced with playing Shrigley Hall, arguably the best team in the League for several years past, and one we have never beaten in my memoryl However the whole team were really zoned in on this one and played extremely well. All 4 of the "League" games went to the 18th, but we actually won in the end by winning 3 and halving 1. We also won the overall match by 6 games to 1 and 1 half. Congratulations to every team member for an outstanding performance, and one that will live in my memory all season. Even the sun shone for us on the day. Phil Smallman |

Seniors to Ladies 2012 A great start to the week as seven four ball teams consisting of two ladies and two Seniors took part in this fun event on Monday 16th April. Played as a Quad am, over 13 holes, with the best lady and best Senior to score on each hole, the match was closely fought in sunny, if rather cool conditions. Everyone enjoyed the golf and finished off with sandwiches and chips in the clubhouse. Winners, with a superb score of 65 points, were the team of Lady Captain, Grace Watts, Mr Vice Captain and Rod Taylor. Second place with another excellent score well above par was the team of Judith Johnson, Avis Proctor, Mike Howard and Don Cooper |

March 2012 - Ladies Annual Dinner by Marie-Anne McGibbon It is hard to believe that it is that time of year again! Yet another winter has flown by, and thankfully this year without too much bad weather. With an excellent turnout of 40 ladies, Lady Captain welcomed us all with a Bucks Fizz, and words of praise for the wonderful table presentation by John and Liz and their staff. |

Seniors Friendly Match against Disley GC Away
We had a complete reversal of fortunes in the weather, after the warmth experienced in the previous match. We played through heavy bouts of Hail & Rain, a rumble of thunder and a very occasional glimpse of the sun. Neverthess some excellent golf was played and enjoyed by all concerned and the team managed a win , having won 4 games, losing 3 and halving 1. So despite our soaking we thank our hosts who were excellent company, as always. It could take a long time to dry out all the clothing and equipment though. Congratulations to the winning pairs who were: Arthur Oliver/Phil Smallman, Trev Jones/Mike Howard, Dave Holt/Mike Richardson. Harry Howe/Tony Jones - with Steve Price/Peter Christian gaining a half.
Derek Horsey Memorial Charity ShieldThe Derek Horsey Charity Competition is for Senior golfers in Greater Manchester ,NW Derbyshire and NE Cheshire. Each club plays a qualifying competition and then the top two players represent their club in a knock out competition which this year involves 25 clubs. In view of the inclement weather, this year’s qualifying competition at New Mills was restricted to 13 holes and was played off2/3 handicap. Despite the wind and rain 28 hardy seniors took part and raised a splendid £70 for the charity. |
