Jack Marshall, Junior Captain 2011

Hello my name is Jack Marshall and I am very proud to be Junior Captain of New mills Golf Club in 2011. I am 14 years old and have been playing golf now for 6 years. I play off a handicap of 14 and I am looking to improve on that this year. I really enjoy playing here as it is a very welcoming club and Carl is a great supporting professional.

I enjoy the weekly junior competitions in the summer holidays and we have a very supportive junior organiser, David Hibbert, who will make all juniors feel welcome.

I have not played in any junior opens recently but I am planning on playing as many as I can in the future and I will try to persuade more juniors to play in them as well. I am also planning on trying to get in some more junior competitions on a regular basis to give the juniors more chance of lowering their handicap.

I also play in some of the men’s competitions on a Saturday with a few other juniors. This gives you a great opportunity to reduce your handicap as well creating friends with some of the older members of the club who are all very friendly.

I will also try to persuade more people (boys and girls) to take up the sport as it is a great way to make friends and is an enjoyable game no matter how old you are.
