Gentlemen’s Presentation Evening 2011

The Gentlemen’s Presentation Evening was held on Friday, 18th November 2011 with a good turnout of members to see the winners of the various competitions receive their prizes from Mr Captain, Colin Banks.

It was a great season with, yet again, some excellent scores being recorded and very exciting play-offs.

Mr President, Bob Palmer, presented Pat Walker with the President's Knockout Cup with Les Harding the runner up.

Murphy's Marbles supported by Milligan's Wake

Members and Non Members Welcomed alike

The New Mills Golf Club welcomed back the fabulous Murphy's Marbles, and anyone who has seen them before at the club will know what a brilliant and talented band they are. Come early to ensure a seat.

The Marbles are one of the most accomplished Irish bands in the country. Testament to this is they are one of the only Celtic bands from the UK to be invited to perform in Ireland at the International Irish Music Festival.

The Classics

October 2011 

Non Members and members were welcomed alike

The Classics returned to The New Mills Golf Club for the third time in October 2011.

An incredible band they cover the music of 

Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, The Shadows, Johnny Kidd & The Pirates, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Everly Brothers, The Searchers, Billy Fury, Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran, Ricky Nelson, and many more. 

Open Quad Am Competition – Sunday 4^th Sept 2011

The day dawned fine and a little cloudy but as the morning progressed some sunshine came through and gave us a lovely day at New Mills Golf Club for the biggest open event of the year.

There was a full card of entrants both from within the membership and from visiting parties. Liz, John and their team in the clubhouse and halfway house looked after everyone magnificently as ever. Many members from among the Seniors' section were on hand to help in every aspect of the organisation from car parking to helping visitors register.

Marcliffe Cup

A big thank you to Cliff Arden who over 20 years ago decided to organise a competition for club members aged 55 and over and donated the Marcliffe Cup to be awarded to the winner.

Lady Captain's Day by Lady Captain, Marion Harrison

My Lady Captain’s Day was held on Saturday 10th July 2011 at New Mills Golf Club and there were 27 players (including Lady President) in my stableford, full handicap competition and it was good to see Past Captains, Honorary members, Social members, ladies and guests joining us for the afternoon tea at 4.30pm. Avis Proctor our Past Lady Captain of 2010 was able to be with us after her operation and we wished her better health in the future and look forward to her returning to play golf.
