Junior Section - Good News Item.

As a result of  years of practice and dedication, both Keane Hyde and Jack Marshall have been selected to play for Derbyshire Juniors  against Yorkshire Juniors at Buxton & High Peak on the 8th April 2013.  There are ten in each team, playing in foursomes in the morning and singles in the afternoon. Well done to both guys, it is a great honour to play for the County and also reflects well on New Mills as a Golf Club.  We will keep
you posted on how well they do.

Welcome return of the ‘Classics’

Classics

By popular demand we’re pleased to welcome back the ‘Classics’ to the Golf Club.
Playing music from the 60’s and ‘70’s the band will bring back memories of classic hits from bands such as TheStones, Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochrane and a host of  others.
For me, the highlight of their last visit was the selection of hits by the Shadows which brought people onto the dance floor and showed that even some of the elder statesmen of the club still hadn’t lost the ability to perform a mean jive or two. Watch out Strictly!
Tickets cost just £5 and John and Liz will be providing food for those who need some sustenance. Once again Alan Blakeman will compere the evening so dig out your dancing shoes, bring along your friends and get your feet tapping to what promises to be another great evening of nostalgia performed by four great musicians.

The Ladies Annual Prizegiving

The Ladies Annual Prizegiving took place last Wednesday 16th January at New Mills Golf Club. Although it was a very cold evening there was a good turn-out from the Ladies.
Lady Captain, Janet Bowers chaired the meeting and read out her report, as follows, briefly: I thank everyone for their help and support during my year, especially my committee who have worked extremely hard. In particular Margaret Palmer, who's knowledge and advice had been remarkable. She said that she had enjoyed every minute of her year and that although she would miss the 'buzz' she was looking forward to some 'normal' time at home with Ian and her family.

Childrens Christmas Party PDF Print E-mail

Santa comes to New Mills Golf Club!

The elf that gatecrashed the Ladies Christmas Party, obviously gave a good report to Santa.  Not only did he arrive, but he brought with him an entourageSpong Bob that even Madonna would envy!!
There were 2 reindeer, Sponge Bob Square Pants, Mickey Mouse and Peppa Pig.   What a motley crew they were, but the children were entranced.  At one stage it looked as if Sponge Bob was going to be mobbed, but the disco started and their attention was drawn to the games being played and then the food provided by Liz and John.
Just as the sun was setting, the children (48 in total aged from 11 months to 10 yrs) were asked to go outside and shout for Santa!  Which they did with great gusto, until he came racing down the fairway.  A great cheer went up, and the excitement of the children (and some of the adults!!) was tangible.
Once inside, the children surrounded him, and Santa got them all to sing Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.  I am sure I saw a little tear in one or two eyes (male and female).  When the singing finished, Santa then called every child up to get a present.  It is fair to say, that from the excited shouts, all were very impressed with their gifts.

Ladies Christmas Dinner PDF Print E-mail

Santas’ elf does pre Christmas visit!!!

The elf was seen on the 5th of December, trying to sneak in to the Ladies Christmas dinner!!

We think she was there to reassure Santa that the food andladies xmas dinner service provided by our hosts Liz and John was as good as ever.

In the spirit of the season the ladies decided to let her stay, so that she could reassure her boss that New Mills Golf club is the place to go for your Christmas treat.

As always, the decorations are spectacular, and the elf was told that she might end up on top of the tree if she misbehaved!!! The dinner was lovely, with the general ambience of the club being one of Welcome and Enjoy!

There were 39 ladies enjoying the afternoon, with much chatter and laughter echoing around the club.  I can’t be sure, but I am positive there were some envious glances from the gentlemen in the clubhouse. (Or maybe that was because the ladies were all dressed in their finery, and looked very different from their normal golf clothed selves!!).

We can truly say that the ladies dinner is becoming one of the highlights of the year, with more and more ladies asking to participate.  Social members are welcome to join us, and some do already. Click 'Read more...' for photographs.
