It is hard to believe that it is that time of year again! Yet another winter has flown by, and thankfully this year without too much bad weather.

With an excellent turnout of 40 ladies, Lady Captain welcomed us all with a Bucks Fizz, and words of praise for the wonderful table presentation by John and Liz and their staff.

Introducing Dave Cullen, PGA Qualified Professional

Hi I’m Dave Cullen, the PGA qualified Professional at New Mills Golf Club. Returning to New Mills Golf Club is like coming home, I spent 5 very enjoyable years as professional in the 1980's and have fond memories of the friendly membership.

I started playing golf at the age of 13 and by 15 played off a 4 handicap, turning professional at the age of 17, before becoming a PGA Qualified Golf Professional at the age of 21.

I have always had a passion for teaching golf and have gained a reputation as one of Derbyshire's most respected coaches specializing in individual and group tuition. My devotion to the development of Junior Golf was recognized by an EGU award during 2009.

Seniors Friendly Match against Disley GC Away

 
We had a complete reversal of fortunes in the weather, after the warmth experienced in the previous match.  We played through heavy bouts of Hail & Rain, a rumble of thunder and a very occasional glimpse of the sun. Neverthess some excellent golf was played and enjoyed by all concerned and the team managed a win , having won 4 games, losing 3 and halving 1.

So, Pigtails; Check, School Skirt; Check, Straw Hat; Check, Black tights: Check – OK so that is Mr Captain dressed and ready to line up waiting for that bell to ring and the fun to begin! It was great to see that people had really gotten into the spirit of the evening and made a real effort to dress up (have a look at the photos and weep!! Thanks to Brian Southworth for taking on the role of official photographer for the evening).
