Louise Jannetta, New Mills Art Trail 2012
You'll no doubt have noticed over recent years, the annual appearance of pictures and works of art of all kinds in the window space of shops and business all across New Mills. This is because the burgeoning number of predominantly visual artist creative types flocking to the hills of the High Peak, have come together to display their wares through the New Mills Arts Trail, and New Mills Golf Club is joining in by displaying some of Louise Jannetta's portfolio. The trail is part of the wider New Mills Festival, a focal point of creative activity in the High Peak at the end of October and brings together painters, illustrators and photographers to form a town-wide art gallery, distributed across dozens of shop window displays and internal wall space in businesses. As well as promoting the artistic talent in this part of Derbyshire, and equally important, local businesses get to promote themselves and the contribution they make in developing and maintaining our rich community life. |

Seniors Open September 2012by Graham Hawkins Over 150 golfers from around the North West took part in New Mills Golf Club’s Seniors Open on Tuesday September 24th. The competition played as a betterball Stableford in pairs isn’t open to members from New Mills as we believe home advantage shouldn’t be a factor which might determine the outcome. Nevertheless many of our Seniors once again supported the event acting as ball spotters, car park attendants, etc. |

Derbyshire Ladies' County Golf Association Foursomesby Marie-Anne McGibbon, August 2012
It was on the 19th of July that we first tried to play this competition, all fired up for a good game. And then!!! well, the heavens opened half way through, with many a drowned lady golfer bemoaning the ongoing wet summer, and the competition had to be abandoned as the course flooded. The day was somewhat rescued by the clothes on display from LeSports and the jewellery stall by Mandalay Accessories, the cakes in the half way house, plus the wonderful meals by Liz that restored the wilting golfers.
However, returning to the focus of the day, there was much discussion between the Derbyshire dignitaries and the officers of New Mills Golf Club, to re-arrange the competition. The 21st of August was chosen, but could we rely on the weather? |

CAPTAIN’S Thank You WEEKEND
Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th August 2012 By way of thanking the Club for giving me the honour of being Captain this year, I get to host a weekend competition for Gents and Ladies, whereby all categories of members can come together and play in a competition. Tee sheets are on the notice boards in the clubhouse. Known for being one of the most welcoming Clubs in the area, the Saturday evening gives all categories of members the chance to partake in some food and drink with each other. By bringing their family and friends, it's a great chance for members to show off the clubhouse and panoramic views to those left at home whilst we test ourselves on the course. For all those young at heart, a disco will allow us to demonstrate we can swing our hips for others and not just to hit that damn ball! The Saturday evening is all about enjoying the clubhouse facilities with our wider family and friends of members, so please do invite all those you like to spend time with. |
