The Pro's assessment of Hole 18
A tight tee shot from an enclosed area starts this final hole but the target area soon opens up. The main danger with the second shot are the fairway bunkers which are around130 yards short of the green and in a bottleneck, so decide whether to lay up or be brave. The generous sized green is well ptotected by the 4 bunkers at the front.
Prisma Colour's assessment of Hole 18At first you wonder if you should be on the ladies tee as the gents appears to be for a different hole, some other hole, any other hole, but rest assured you're on the right tee. From a narrow vantage point place the ball straight up the fairway and you're safe, though very big hitters should be wary of a couple of bunkers left and right, mid way along the dog leg left fairway. The same trees that maybe gave you grief on the 11th hole could give you trouble again if you hit left on the tee shot. Little chance for most mere mortals to reach the green in two, so lay up ahead of the green and just short of the guarding bunkers which will give a better view of the pin's position when chipping on. The green is very long so forgiving if you reach it but challenging if you're way off the hole. Time to congratulate each other and retire to relive the birdies or rework your excuses over food and drink in the bar.
