New Mills Golf Course - Hole 4

Hole sponsored by:   Meridian

Carl Cross - Course ProfessionalThe Pro's assessment of Hole 4

Don’t let the short distace fool you, this hole proves that you don’t have to make a par 3 200+ yards to be difficult. The green, although very wide is short in depth, and is well protected all around whatever you do - don’t go long or you will be looking at a 4 or 5 or more.

Meridian's assessment of Hole 4

A hole to humble the arrogant - on the face of it a simple chip and put but this can catch those off their game with punishing effect. There are a couple of bunkers just where you'd like to pitch onto in front of the green, and as you're tempted to drop onto the green there's a strong chance of bouncing through the green and down the steep slope beyound. The green itself is set at a dramatic angle to the hillside making the judgement of its slope or otherwise difficult to judge accurately. Watch and weep as your simple pitch and putt turns into a nightmare!
