The Pro's assessment of Hole 1 A nice short par 5 to start with, this hole plays a little longer than the yardage suggests due to its elevated green. The tee shot is important if you want to go for the green in 2 so beware of the tree in the middle of the fairway. Once the green is in range you will find that an extra club or 3 is needed, especially if the pin is on the back tier, and an approach shot that's leaked right will be punished by the slope down to the 2nd tee.
J & F Tools' assessment of Hole 1It's a big ask to be on the green in two but is just about possible, so something of a wake-up call that although the club is friendly, the course is challenging. There is a marker post on the fairway - which you should aim for, avoiding the bunkers on the right of the fairway. The hole's a dog-leg left with bunkers to catch you on your approach shot at the base of the steep rise to the green and on the hill side of the green. If you don't land on the green with your approach shot you could get caught by yet more bunkers or suffer the prospect of your ball rolling 50 yds down the hill away from the green. The pressure doesn't stop when you get on the green as there's a persistent incline to un-nerve you when taking your putt. Don't let the hole can put you off the rest of your game - try and conquer it and move on.
