Winter Weekend Away 2012

Friday 27 April to Sunday 29 April inclusive

Owston Hall Golf Club (Owston Hall Hotel), Doncaster

Three rounds of golf, two nights Bed and Breakfast with private dinner on Friday and Saturday nights - £185 each (includes prizes). The Winter Weekend Away marks the end of the Winter League season and is open to all members whether you played in the Winter League or not. It offers a unique opportunity to play an unfamiliar course for a full weekend ahead of the summer season starting proper, and see your fellow members in a new environment. A £50 deposit should be given to Simon Belt (Captain) or Dave Cullen (Club Professional), with cheques made payable to 'New Mills Golf Club'.

Owston Hall offers a complete package when it comes to golfing weekends. The Championship Golf Course offers players the challenge & quality expected by PGA professionals, maintained to the highest standards by expereinced groundskeepers.

Owston Hall Golf ClubThe 18 hole, Par 72 golf course at 6,937 yds is set in over 200 acres of mature parkland, and is a terrific example of ‘risk/reward' golf with large oaks and treacherous water hazards making the course both enjoyable to play whilst at the same proving to be a stern test of golf.

The feature hole is the 10th a par 4, 284-yard hole, which requires a carry over two carefully placed ponds before playing up to the green which is overlooked from the conservatory of the 18th century Owston Hall. Development began in 1996, and since then the course has become a host venue from 2002-2004 to the EuroPro Tour which is televised worldwide. Click on this course plan link to see more.

Owston Hall's 4 Star complex features 63 luxurious en-suite guest rooms, all specifically designed for an extremely comfortable stay. The 15 bedrooms incorporated in the old wing have been decorated individually, and reflect the character of the 17th century construction itself. The remaining bedrooms are located in the Old Stables part of the hotel, which may not have quite the intrigue of the old wing, but is equally as comfortable. Excellent service is guaranteed at Owston Hall, confirming it as a good choice for a golf break.

Owston Hall PoolThe fitness suite offers a swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, solarium, sauna and exercise treatment as part of an excellent new health club, ideal for unwinding after golf, so bring your trunks and gym kit! The Victorian style conservatory restaurant serves superb modern dishes, and offers great views over the surrounding golf course, complimenting the golf with relaxed and more formal opportunities to socialise with and get to know the membership at New Mills Golf Club who carry through the tradition of great warmth and friendship our Club is liked so much for.

Back to the golf. There'll be a different format 18 hole competition with different teams selected randomly in advance. On arrival on the Friday, the competition will be a Betterball Stableford (3/4Hcp, Max 18 strokes), followed on Saturday with a Quad AM Stableford (3/4Hcp, Max 18 strokes), finishing on Sunday with the classic Texas Scramble (Stroke play with 1/10th combined HCP).
