Hare & Hounds Classic Vehicle Clubat New Mills Golf Club, May 2011
The Hare & Hounds Classic Vehicle Club has been going since November 1991 and is open to enthusiasts of all Classic Vehicles, for the enjoyment of classic cars, light commercials and bikes. On Sunday 22 May, the Club run will be through the Derbyshire countryside, finishing at New Mills Golf Club where their members will have their lunch.
This will be a terrific opportunity for members of the Golf Club to have a close look at some Classic Cars - we're expecting some 30-35 cars on the day, which will be parked on the car park by the clubhouse. There's no restrictions on the day, so friends, family and all those interested in seeing some classic cars that have been cherished and maintained to such a high standard are welcome to come and have a look from midday.
Classic cars are also a passion of John Longworth and his son Tom. John, as many of you will know by now, is the new steward at New Mills Golf Club, and along with his wife Liz have helped introduce a more adventurous and outgoing spirit around the clubhouse. As part of introducing new groups and themed nights to the club, John has arranged for his friends with their classic cars to show them off at his new home, and for people in the area (and you don't need to be a member of the golf club) to come along and see some delightful treasures of this country's heritage.
So if you're thinking of getting or restoring a classic car, or just want to peruse some vintage cars, come along and have a chat with the owners showing their cars and see if it's something you really would like to pursue. Either way, you'll get to see some delightful cars, chat to some great people, and all with the stunning backdrop of the golf course.
John's wife Liz will be serving members and visitors Sunday lunches and bar snacks in the clubhouse so pop along for a friendly Sunday afternoon. |

John is an enthusiastic member of the Hare & Hounds Classic Vehicle Club and promises you a great afternoon whether or not you have a knowledgeable interest in old vehicles or whether you’re just suitably impressed by cars. Although some of the cars may be as old as some of the members of the golf club, none of us are too old to learn, and the technical knowledge maintained by the classic car enthusiasts is something they're keen to share.
