Other key appointments included Dr. Huw Jones as the new President, Jane Gee as the new Lady President, Colin Banks as new Vice Captain and Marion Harrison as Lady Vice Captain. There were two new committee members appointed, Simon Belt, who has set up and continues to run the club's website and former secretary, John White. Finally, Len Youd was made an honorary life member of the club. Len, who joined the club way back in 1964, is a former Captain, past President and former committee member. He was, and still is, a passionate golfer, fiercely competitive and with a wicked sense of humour! Proposer Bob Palmer reminded the meeting of 'Mr. Spock' having always been an avid supporter of the social side of the club introducing and running the ever popular 'race nights' as well as being the instigator of the equally successful Monday afternoon 'fiddle'. Outgoing captain, Graham Hadfield commented that this year’s committee had worked tirelessly on behalf of members and given 100 % in terms of time and effort to improve the quality of the course and facilities for everyone. He added that 2009 had been a difficult year for all golf clubs in the area and indeed across most of the country with many struggling to attract new members as the country tries to pull out of the longest recession since the mid thirties, but despite these hard times we actually managed to increase our membership during the year due largely to a great deal of effort and initiative from the newly formed Marketing and Advertising sub committee who helped to substantially increase membership on a meagre budget of just £200. Graham praised the work of the House and Social Committee who worked enthusiastically and imaginatively to improve the social side of the club and to encourage wider use of the clubhouse as a facility not just for the members but also for the wider community as well
Best wishes Graham E. Hadfield (Captain 2009) |

The club’s AGM was held recently on Friday 29th January and as always was very well attended. Key appointments were Mike Brennand as Captain for 2010 and Avis Proctor as Lady's Captain. John Abson took over the key role as Secretary for the year whilst Richard Phillipson became the new Treasurer.
