Last October 4000 people watched the choir perform at The Royal Albert Hall, and they were joined by other specially selected choirs Nationwide, and world famous brass bands from Yorkshire in the concert organised in aid of Cancer Research UK. The choir sing all over the county and we have been lucky to get them to perform for us. The price is £5 per ticket and the time it starts is 7.30pm. |

CAPTAIN’S WEEKEND – 07 and 08 August 2010
Despite some less than promising weather on Saturday –drizzle turning to quite persistent rain and then finally improving for the late starters - a great time was had by all the 125 male members which included Juniors and five day members. Some fantastic scores were recorded and as you can see from the photograph, members really got into the spirit of the day! The format on Saturday was an individual Stableford off a three quarter handicap which combined with some challenging pin positions made the winning scores even more impressive. The winner, after a countback, was Jim Wharmby with 41 points, second was Chris Wood with Trevor Higginbottom a close third with 39 points, also after a back nine countback. |

Glorious weather for the Open WeekendThe Open Weekend was blessed with outstanding weather – clear blue skies and lots of warm sunshine although the strong wind on Saturday made playing conditions more difficult than on Sunday. The Quad Am on Saturday was extremely well supported and was a very close affair with Junior captain Sam Shaw, Steve Price and Dave Bray finishing first with 85 points. One point behind, in second place was the team comprising Mr. Captain, Mike Wilson, John Read and Jon Swindells whilst 3rd place went to Gez Moran, Pat Walker, Clive Garside and another of our up and coming juniors, Jack Marshall. |
